Venom 2 Updates: Sony has delayed the sequel of Venom titled Venom: Let There Be Carnage three weeks to October 21 in the middle of box office tensions.

Venom: Let There Be carnages has pushed back its release date to October 21 in between of struggling box office with COVID-19 Delta variant. This sequel of Venom will be featuring Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock and his voice of titular lethal avenger as he faces one of the most dangerous enemies in form of Woody Harrelson’s serial killer Cletus Kasady/Carnage.

As the critics commented mixed reviews, the first Venom film has collected more than $80 million in the opening weekend which is the second-best of the month of October 2018 and it went on to make $856 million and the end of the box office. But today, box office revenue levels are down from that mark with James Gunn’s critically acclaimed The Suicide Squad which falls short estimation of $30 million for opening weekend earning over $25 million.

Sony has announced the release date of Venom 2’s that have been delayed to October 15. This film was first to be premiered on September 24. The production hopes for theatrical release for the film but as there is null attendance in both domestic and overseas box-office they would push back the film for the improvement of the box-office.

Studios like Disney and Warner Bros have taken a step to lower their box-office by applying for hybrid or day-and-date releases with films to be premiered on their respective platforms at the same time in theatres. With such types of releases, this helps them lower the box office but it provides controversial as Scarlett Johansson sued Disney for an alleged breach of a contract with the relation of the hybrid release of Black Widow. This is the main problem for Sony as they do not have popular and dedicated streaming platforms like HBO Max or Disney+.

When we move to the date of release of Venom 2 which allows the studio to keep an eye on the box office. The rumors have been spread that Sony has set to release the movie in January 2022 instead of October. It would not be surprising that the film release has been shifted and it won’t appear to be picking up.

The release of Venom 2 on 15th October matches with Halloween Kills and both films release between the most awaited movie of James Bond No Time To Die which will be releasing on 8th October a week before and Denis Villeneuve’s Dune which will be releasing on 22nd October releasing a week after. It will be interesting to see whether there will be a delay in the release of Venom: Let There Be Carnage.
